How we chose

Our team works with clients every day to test and wear this kit on real sites, and we listen to their feedback alongside what people say online and on review sites. We bring it all together so you get clear, honest information to pick the right product for you.

Using our supplier certification data, we screened the certified picks against EN ISO 20471:2013+A1:2016 and read each one's class: 1, 2 or 3, set by the minimum area of fluorescent background and retroreflective tape (Class 3 is the most conspicuous). We also read EN 343:2019 water penetration and breathability classes (1–4 each; EN 343 is now succeeded by EN ISO 24232:2025) and EN 342:2017 cold protection (thermal insulation Icler in m²·K/W, air permeability class). Orange picks marked RIS-3279-TOM Issue 2 meet the RSSB hi-vis standard for the GB mainline railway.

Every pick is active and in stock, with clear photos and sizes available. Scores weight review quality (38%, a Bayesian average rating), review volume (17%), our product research (30%: trade bestseller signals, price against the market, colour range and verified standards), photo coverage (8%) and size availability (7%). We only show verified ratings and review counts, with links, we pick no more than two products per brand, and every review summary is written in our own words.

Buying guide

Check the class, not just the colour

EN ISO 20471 Class 3 gives the most fluorescent and reflective area and is the usual ask on roads and busy sites. Class 2 suits many yards, depots and car parks. Your site rules or risk assessment set the minimum.

Match the jacket to the weather

A lined or quilted jacket suits winter mornings, a lightweight shell suits layering, and EN 343 tells you the jacket has been tested for rain. Look at the first and second numbers: higher means more waterproof and more breathable.

Think about the whole outfit

The class can depend on what you wear with it. Some jackets reach Class 3 alone; others need hi-vis trousers too. If you add a logo, keep it off the reflective tape and within the background fabric allowance.

Plan for washing

Hi-vis performance is certified for a stated number of washes. Follow the care label, and replace jackets that are faded, torn or have cracked tape.

Frequently asked questions

What class of hi-vis jacket do I need?

Most road, rail-adjacent and major construction sites ask for Class 3. Class 2 is common in warehouses, yards and lower-speed areas. Always follow the client or site rules and your own risk assessment.

Can I wear a hi-vis jacket over other layers?

Yes. Many people size up one size so a fleece or softshell fits underneath. A jacket only counts towards a hi-vis class if it is the outer, visible layer.

Are all hi-vis jackets waterproof?

No. Look for EN 343 on the label or in the product details if you need tested rain protection. Our picks note which standards each one carries.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Plain items usually arrive in 2–4 working days to Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland. Branded items take 7–10 working days. Every order also comes with 28-Day Returns.

Can you add our logo?

Yes. An uploaded logo has a one-off £9.99 setup fee, then £3.99 per position per garment. A text logo has no setup fee and is £3.99 per position per garment.
