How we chose

Our team works with clients every day to test and wear this kit on real sites, and we listen to their feedback alongside what people say online and on review sites. We bring it all together so you get clear, honest information to pick the right product for you.

Using our supplier certification data, we screened the certified picks against RIS-3279-TOM Issue 2, the RSSB hi-vis standard for the GB mainline railway, and EN ISO 20471:2013+A1:2016 and read each one's class: 1, 2 or 3, set by the minimum area of fluorescent background and retroreflective tape (Class 3 is the most conspicuous). Weatherproof picks add EN 343:2019 water penetration and breathability classes (1–4 each; EN 343 is now succeeded by EN ISO 24232:2025) and EN 14058 cool-environment classes.

Every pick is active and in stock, with clear photos and sizes available. Scores weight review quality (38%, a Bayesian average rating), review volume (17%), our product research (30%: trade bestseller signals, price against the market, colour range and verified standards), photo coverage (8%) and size availability (7%). We only show verified ratings and review counts, with links, we pick no more than two products per brand, and every review summary is written in our own words.

Buying guide

Orange for rail

Network Rail and many UK rail sites ask for orange hi-vis that meets RIS-3279-TOM (which replaced GO/RT 3279).

Class 3 for track

Track workers normally need Class 3 for the whole outfit, often jacket and trousers together.

Flame-retardant options

Some rail tasks also need flame-retardant or anti-static clothing. Check the job pack.

Logos

Company logos are allowed in set areas, away from tape. Ask us before ordering branded rail kit.

Frequently asked questions

What is RIS-3279-TOM?

It is the Rail Industry Standard for hi-vis clothing on Great Britain's mainline railway. It replaced GO/RT 3279 and requires orange garments to EN ISO 20471.

Is rail orange the same as normal orange hi-vis?

Rail garments meet extra requirements such as tape placement. Choose items that list RIS-3279-TOM if you work on the railway.

Can I wear rail orange on a building site?

Usually yes, but some sites prefer yellow. Check your site rules.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Plain items usually arrive in 2–4 working days to Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland. Branded items take 7–10 working days. Every order also comes with 28-Day Returns.

Can you add our logo?

Yes. An uploaded logo has a one-off £9.99 setup fee, then £3.99 per position per garment. A text logo has no setup fee and is £3.99 per position per garment.
