Using our supplier certification data, we screened the certified picks against EN ISO 20345:2022+A1:2024 (200 J toe cap). Slip resistance on ceramic tile is built into the 2022 categories, and SR means the sole also passed the harder ceramic tile and glycerine test; every category from S1 up adds a closed heel, antistatic sole (A) and energy-absorbing heel (E). S3 adds a water-resistant upper, a penetration-resistant midsole and a cleated outsole: S3S is a non-metal midsole tested with a 3 mm nail and S3L with a 4.5 mm nail. We also read extra codes: HRO (heat-resistant outsole), CI and HI (cold and heat insulation), FO (fuel-oil-resistant outsole), SC (scuff cap), LG (ladder grip) and ESD to IEC 61340-5-1.

What is the difference between S3, S3L and S3S?
All three have the same S3 features. Under EN ISO 20345:2022 the letter describes the midsole: S3 uses a metal midsole, S3L a non-metal midsole tested with a 4.5 mm nail, and S3S a non-metal midsole tested with a finer 3 mm nail.
Are S3 boots waterproof?
S3 boots have water-resistant uppers. For fully waterproof boots, look for the WR marking or a waterproof membrane.
Should I choose steel or composite?
Both give the same 200 J protection. Composite is lighter and does not set off metal detectors; steel is usually slimmer and lower-cost.
How quickly will my order arrive?
Plain items usually arrive in 2–4 working days to Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland. Branded items take 7–10 working days. Every order also comes with 28-Day Returns.
Can you add our logo?
Yes. An uploaded logo has a one-off £9.99 setup fee, then £3.99 per position per garment. A text logo has no setup fee and is £3.99 per position per garment.
